Psalm 123 & 124

Leader: To you, O LORD, we lift up our eyes; O you who are enthroned in the heavens!

People: As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us.

Leader: Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us.

People: If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us, then they would have swallowed us up alive.

Leader: Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

People: Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Heavenly Father, on this Memorial Day weekend, we give you special thanks for the men and women who have given their lives for the sake of freedom and the spread of the gospel by word and deed. We thank you for sending the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, that your people might have the strength and courage to be your witnesses around the world. Help us to follow the example of those who put service above self in the Name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, “Our Father. . .”

Psalm 100

Leader: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

People: Worship the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Leader: Know that the Lord is God.

People: It is he that made us, and we are his. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Leader: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.

People: For the Lord is good. His steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Father in heaven, on this Resurrection Sunday, we praise You for giving us the assurance of life after death by the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the dead. We also praise Jesus today. Because of His faithful obedience to You, an obedience that perfectly fulfilled Your law, He became worthy to die in our place. Lord Jesus, we thank You for dying on the cross so our sins could be justly forgiven. Father, we thank You for our faith in You and in Jesus; faith that You have inspired within our hearts by Your grace. Now, fill us once again with Your Holy Spirit, that we might live in a worthy manner and demonstrate Your love to others; fill us even as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
