Psalm 136

Leader: O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. O give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever.

People: O give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Leader: Who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; who spread out the earth on the waters, for his steadfast love endures forever.

People: It is he who remembered us in our low estate, for his steadfast love endures forever. O give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Heavenly Father, You are a good and gracious God, full of love and mercy, offering forgiveness to repentant sinners. If we thought only of the woes of the world in which we live, we might doubt Your love and faithfulness. Thankfully, You have explained the nature of our existence and given us hope for the future. We entrust our lives and the lives of our families to You, for we know that Your steadfast love endures forever. We praise You for adopting us into Your family by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray in the power of Your Spirit, “Our Father. . .”

Psalm 100

Leader: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

People: Worship the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Leader: Know that the Lord is God.

People: It is he that made us, and we are his. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Leader: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.

People: For the Lord is good. His steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Father in heaven, on this Resurrection Sunday, we praise You for giving us the assurance of life after death by the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the dead. We also praise Jesus today. Because of His faithful obedience to You, an obedience that perfectly fulfilled Your law, He became worthy to die in our place. Lord Jesus, we thank You for dying on the cross so our sins could be justly forgiven. Father, we thank You for our faith in You and in Jesus; faith that You have inspired within our hearts by Your grace. Now, fill us once again with Your Holy Spirit, that we might live in a worthy manner and demonstrate Your love to others; fill us even as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
