A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 144

Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 144

Leader: Blessed be the LORD, my rock and my fortress; my stronghold and my deliverer; my shield, in whom I take refuge.

People: I will sing a new song to you, O God. Upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you.

Leader: May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown. May our daughters be like corner pillars, cut for the building of a palace.

People: May our barns be filled with produce of every kind. May our sheep increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields.

Leader: May there be no breach in the walls, no exile, and no cry of distress in our streets.

People: Happy are the people to whom such blessings fall. Happy are the people whose God is the LORD.

Heavenly Father, we trust in You and Your blessings more than we trust in the vain promises of those who live only for themselves. We find our protection in You. We pray for your watch-care over our families. Guard and guide our children in the ways they should go. Help us to use our time, talent, and treasure to promote Your purposes on earth, that many might come to trust in You and find true happiness. We pray for the power of Your Holy Spirit to fall upon us. For the sake of Your coming Kingdom, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ as He taught us to pray, “Our Father. . .”
