A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 147

L.G. Parkhurst, Jr.
Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 147

Leader: Praise the LORD! How good it is to sing praises to our God.

People: The LORD builds up Jerusalem. He gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted. He binds up their wounds.

Leader: The LORD determines the number of stars; he gives all of them their names. Great is our God, and abundant in power. His understanding is beyond measure.

People: The LORD lifts up the downtrodden. He casts the wicked to the ground.

Leader: Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving. Make melody to our God.

People: His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor is his pleasure in the speed of a runner. But the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Heavenly Father, You reign over all creation as a great and glorious God. You deserve praise and honor from all Your works. Today we sing our praises to You and honor Your word with our attentive ears. Fill us with your Spirit that we might practice from our hearts all the truths we learn from Your word written. As we worship and serve You each day, we trust in your steadfast love manifested in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, “Our Father. . .”
