Psalm 34 c

Leader: The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.

People: The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Leader: When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.

People: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.

Leader: Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.

People: Those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

O God, You give us many precious promises in the Scriptures. We praise You for Your promise that You will bring justice to the earth. Even as we seek justice, we also pray for Your mercy, knowing that because of our sins we deserve Your just condemnation. Thank You for sending Your Son to die in our behalf, that we might receive the gifts of Your forgiveness and eternal life through Him who taught us to pray: “Our Father. . .”
