A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 37 c

Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 37 c

Leader: The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom and justice.

People: The law of God is in their hearts. Their steps do not slip.

Leader: The wicked watch for the righteous, and seek to kill them.

People: The LORD will not abandon them to their power, or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.

Leader: Wait for the LORD, and keep to his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land. You will look on the destruction of the wicked.

People: I have seen the wicked oppressing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon. Again I passed by, and they were no more. Though I sought them, they could not be found.

Leader: Consider the blameless. Behold the upright, for there is posterity for the peaceable.

People: The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD. He is their refuge in the time of trouble. The LORD helps them and rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them, because they take refuge in him.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the honesty of the Scriptures as they describe the righteous and the lawless and their end. Your Word gives encouragement to those who suffer oppression or pain. Hear us as we pray for the peace that only Jesus Christ can give. Rescue all who trust in You, even as we pray in Jesus’ name: “Our Father. . .”
