Psalm 40 c

Leader: Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me. O Lord, make haste to help me.

People: May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you.

Leader: May those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!"

People: As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me.

Leader: You are my help and my deliverer.

People: Do not delay, O my God.

O God, You created all things, and all things depend upon You for existence. We depend upon Your grace for faith and life. All of our abilities, achievements, and special talents come from You as gifts. We confess that we have not always used our gifts wisely. Sometimes we have misused our abilities and have abused others and ourselves. We feel ashamed of some of our achievements. Forgive us and give us the assurance of Your sustaining presence. Help us use our gifts and talents to bless others. Father, we rejoice in You, but sometimes we suffer from others because of our efforts to live faithfully and according to your commandments, Help us remain strong in the Holy Spirit. Give us the courage to do your will and go wherever You lead, even as we pray in Jesus’ name: “Our Father. . .”
