Psalm 44

Leader: We have heard with our ears, O God, our ancestors have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old.

People: Not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm give them victory; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, for you delighted in them.

Leader: You are my King and my God; you command victories. For I do not trust in my bow and my sword cannot save me. But you have saved us from our foes.

People: In God we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to your name forever. Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love.

O God, our help in ages past, we hope in You today. We trust in You all the days ahead. You have proven that You are trustworthy and keep all of Your promises. While You have maintained steadfast love for us, we confess that we have too often turned from You and Your ways to follow our selfish desires. Still, when we repent of our sins, You forgive us and restore our fellowship with You. Help us share the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ with others, that they might know You even as we do. Now, touch our hearts with Your Holy Spirit as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
