Psalm 55

Leader: Give ear to my prayer, O God; do not hide yourself from my supplication. Attend to me, and answer me; I am troubled.

People: The clamor of the wicked bring trouble upon me, and in anger they cherish enmity against me.

Leader: Confuse, O Lord, confound their speech; for I see violence and strife in the city. Ruin is in its midst; oppression and fraud do not depart from its marketplace.

People: Evil is in their homes and in their hearts. But I call upon God, and the Lord will save me. God will hear my voice and will redeem me unharmed.

Leader: Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never permit the righteous to be moved.

People: O God, I will always trust in you.

Lord Jesus, we face enemies within and without, we battle both spiritual and physical adversaries who threaten our peace of mind, our future, and our very lives. Lord Jesus, You fought these same battles and even now You hear our prayers to defeat those who war against Your people. Even as the Psalmist prayed, so we pray and cast our burdens on You, knowing that You will bear them for us and walk with us all the days of our lives, until we meet You face to face in glory. And now, we pray as You taught us: “Our Father. . .”
