A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 76

Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 76

Leader: In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel. His abode has been established in Salem.

People: Sing praise to the Lord, who cuts off the spirit of princes and inspires fear in the kings of the earth.

Leader: Glorious are you, O Lord, more majestic than the everlasting mountains.

People: O Lord, you indeed are awesome! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused?

Leader: From the heavens you uttered judgment. The earth feared and was still when God rose up to establish judgment, to save all the oppressed of the earth.

People: Make vows to the Lord your God, and perform them. Bring gifts to the one who is awesome.

Most Glorious God, the heavens declare Your glory, and we gather here to praise Your holy name. Angels bow before Your throne, and we bow our hearts before You in worship. You are awesome in Your might, and none of Your enemies can stand before You. We pledge our love and loyalty to You, Heavenly Father, and we commit ourselves to the study of Your Word that we might always live in ways that please You. Fill us once again with guiding Your Spirit, even as we pray in the name of Jesus Christ: “Our Father. . .”
