A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 78

L.G. Parkhurst, Jr.
Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 78

Leader: We will tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.

People: God appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach to their children; that the next generation might know them, and rise up and tell them to their children.

Leader: So that they should set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.

People: The Lord chose Mount Zion, which he loves. He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.

Leader: He chose his servant David, and took him from the sheepfolds.

People: With upright heart he tended them, and guided them with skillful hand.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for revealing Your Law to us, and for teaching us to love You, the only true God, and our neighbors as ourselves. But we confess that we have failed to keep Your Law. Therefore, we thank You for sending us a Savior from sin and death, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we might be empowered and led to do what is right in Your eyes, even as we pray in the name of Jesus Christ: “Our Father. . .”
