Psalm 85
Leader: Lord, you were favorable to your land.
You restored our fortunes.
People: You forgave the iniquity of your people. You pardoned all our
sin.
Leader: Restore us again, O God of our salvation.
People: Will you not revive us again, so we may rejoice in you?
Leader: Show us your steadfast love, O Lord. Grant us your salvation.
People: Let us hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace
to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
Leader: Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory
may dwell in our land.
People: Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet. Righteousness and
peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground.
Righteousness will look down from the sky.
Leader: The Lord will give what is good. Our land will yield its increase.
People: Righteousness will go before him and make a path for his steps.
O God, our Heavenly Father, as we look forward to
the celebration of Thanksgiving
in America, we pray that thankful hearts throughout the land will
offer praises and prayers to you, even as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
