A Psalm and A Prayer
Psalm 86

L.G. Parkhurst, Jr.
Teaching the Truth in Love

Psalm 86

Leader: Save your servants who trust in you. You are our God.

People: Be gracious to us, O Lord. Gladden the souls of your servants. O Lord, we lift up our souls to you.

Leader: O Lord, you are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.

People: Give ear, O Lord, to our prayers. Listen to our cries of supplication. In the day of trouble, we call on you.

Leader: All the nations you have made shall come and bow down before you, O Lord. They shall glorify your name, for you are great and you do wondrous things.

People: You alone are God. Teach us your way that we may walk in your truth. Give us an undivided heart to revere your name.

Leader: We give thanks to you, O Lord our God. We will glorify your name forever, for great is your steadfast love toward us.

People: O Lord, you are merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Turn to us and be gracious. Give your strength to your servants.

Heavenly Father, we eagerly anticipate the coming celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. May we so live as to show forth His love and grace to others in all that we say and do, that they might come to love Him as we do, even as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
