Prayers That Help Teachers

No doubt teachers get help from the Holy Spirit when they pray as they prepare their Bible lessons, pray before their Bible lessons, pray during their Bible lessons, and pray whenever they are asked a question about the Bible.

In addition, when those in their class pray for their teacher during the week and before and during their class, their teacher receives additional help from God, enlightenment as they prepare for their class, discernment about the real needs of their class members and how the Bible lesson applies to them personally.

In addition to the prayers of the Church for Bible teachers, the Holy Spirit prays within Bible teachers and Jesus prays for them from heaven. How do we know? The Bible says so!

The Book of Romans teaches: “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27). The Holy Spirit prays for Bible teachers according to the will of God, so God will answer those prayers.

And the Book of Hebrews teaches: “Therefore he [Christ Jesus] is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). Even before Bible teachers go to God for help to teach God’s Word, they have the promise that Jesus Christ will help them “completely” because He “is able to save completely,” and Jesus Christ “ALWAYS LIVES to intercede for them,” which includes Bible teachers (Hebrews 7:25). Our Heavenly Father will always answer the prayers of His Son, especially when we want to honor Jesus Christ and share God's Word.

Your teaching does not depend on your prayers alone, or the prayers of your class or your church. The mightiest prayers of all are those that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit pray for you and for those in your Bible class. Teacher, since God is for you, you can do all things through Christ who will strengthen you (see Romans 8:31 and Philippians 4:13)

May God bless your Bible study and teaching each week!
