Psalm 10 & 11
For a New Year
Leader: O Lord, you hear the desire of the meek. You will strengthen their heart. You will incline your ear to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed.
People: In the Lord I take refuge. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Leader: The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord’s throne is in heaven. His eyes examine every person.
People: The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, for the Lord is righteous. He loves righteous deeds. The upright shall behold his face and rejoice in him.
Heavenly Father, as we begin a new year, we trust in Your willingness to hear our prayers. You invited us to come into Your holy temple, and we humbly entrust our lives to You. When we feel anxiety, fear, or uncertainty, strengthen our hearts and bring a calm spirit into our minds. We rest secure in the future You have prepared for us. Encourage us as we study the Scriptures and meditate on the unfailing truth of Your word. We trust in Your tender care, love, mercy, and justice in behalf of all people, especially those orphaned and oppressed. And now, we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ: “Our Father. . .”
