Psalm 18c

Leader: Who is God except the Lord? Who is a rock besides our God? For God girded me with strength, and made my way safe.

People: He made my feet like the feet of a deer, and set me secure on the heights. He gave me a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.

Leader: The Lord lives! Blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation.

People: For this I will extol you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to your name.

Heavenly Father, throughout the world, many serve false gods. These idols or deceptive spirits sometimes make them feel good or meet some of their desires. But we recognize and worship no other God but You, O Lord. Help us to trust in You and the Holy Scriptures. Give us a discerning spirit, as Your Holy Spirit leads us and gives us wisdom. Protect us and keep us from being deceived by those who have turned from Your words and ways. Give us the strength we need, and make our way safe in a dangerous world. We exalt You and build our lives on You as our solid rock. Help us to spread the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and help us pray in His Spirit as He taught us: “Our Father. . .”
