Psalm 47

Leader: Clap your hands, all you peoples. Shout to God with loud songs of joy.

People: For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth.

Leader: He chose our heritage for us whom he loves.

People: God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

Leader: Sing praises to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the king of all the earth. Sing praises with a psalm.

People: God is king over the nations. God sits on his holy throne.

Holy Spirit, fill us today with Your loving presence, that we might sing the praises of God with hearts of joy. May others come to see our daily rejoicing in God our Savior, and give glory to Jesus Christ our Lord. Heavenly Father, we pray for Your great strength and wisdom to protect us daily. As sovereign King and Ruler over all the nations, help us stand for what is right and true. Give us a better understanding of the Scriptures, that we might always be able to give good reasons for the faith that saves and sustains us, even as we pray in Jesus’ holy name: “Our Father. . .”
