Psalm 54

Leader: Save me, O God, by your name. Vindicate me by your might.

People: Hear my prayer, O God. Give ear to my words.

Leader: Surely, God is my helper. The Lord is the upholder of my life.

People: He will repay my enemies for their evil. In your faithfulness, put an end to them.

Leader: With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you. I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.

People: He has delivered me from every trouble. My eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.

O God, we have many enemies within and without. The world, the flesh, and the devil tempt us to rebel against You and do wrong. Defeat all evildoers and thwart their purposes. Defeat all those who would lead others away from doing Your will. Influence them with Your Spirit and Your Truth that they might repent of their sins, come to saving faith in Jesus Christ, and change their lives. Even as they once opposed Your will, may they become effective witnesses for You and the Good News of Jesus Christ. Forgive us for those times when we have failed and disappointed You, others, and ourselves with our behavior. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we might serve You more faithfully, even as we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, “Our Father. . .”
