Psalm 90

Leader:  Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

People: A thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night. The days of our life are seventy years, or perhaps eighty, if we are strong.

Leader: Teach us to count our days, so we may gain a wise heart.

People: Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Leader: Let your work be manifest to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.

People: Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands
— O prosper the work of our hands!

Heavenly Father, as we begin a New Year, we rededicate our lives to serving You and our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Increase our devotion for You and Your work in this place. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so we can bear fruit and bless others. Prune us so we can bear even more and better fruit. Fill us and prune us in the coming year, and even now as we pray in Jesus’ name: “Our Father. . .”

Psalm 100

Leader: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

People: Worship the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Leader: Know that the Lord is God.

People: It is he that made us, and we are his. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Leader: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.

People: For the Lord is good. His steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Father in heaven, on this Resurrection Sunday, we praise You for giving us the assurance of life after death by the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the dead. We also praise Jesus today. Because of His faithful obedience to You, an obedience that perfectly fulfilled Your law, He became worthy to die in our place. Lord Jesus, we thank You for dying on the cross so our sins could be justly forgiven. Father, we thank You for our faith in You and in Jesus; faith that You have inspired within our hearts by Your grace. Now, fill us once again with Your Holy Spirit, that we might live in a worthy manner and demonstrate Your love to others; fill us even as we pray: “Our Father. . .”
